Meet Your Rockport Fishing Guide – Darren Pham
Born and raised in Rockport, Texas, I grew up surrounded by the water and life on the docks of Fulton Harbor. My fishing journey started early—at just seven years old, I was up before sunrise waiting for my dad to finish shrimping so I could cast a line. With nothing more than a Coke can, 50 lb mono, a drag washer, and leftover bait, I found my passion. What began as a creative way to catch fish turned into a lifelong obsession. I soaked up every minute I could on the water, learning how to read tides, spot bait movement, and experiment with new techniques.
Inspired by legends like Bill Dance, Roland Martin, and Blair Wiggins, I developed a love for artificial lures and the challenge of fooling fish with nothing but skill and presentation. I spent years wading the shorelines of Rockport and casting from every lighted pier I could find. Eventually, my dad trusted me to run his boat, and that’s when the bays truly became my playground. With my brothers by my side, we chased redfish, flounder, and especially Speckled Trout, which quickly became my favorite species to target—particularly the elusive trophy-class trout.
After nearly a decade of living in the Texas Hill Country as a professional poker player and chasing bass in freshwater, I felt the pull to return to my roots. I launched Darren Pham Fishing to share my passion, local knowledge, and years of experience with others who want to explore Rockport wade fishing. Whether you're new to saltwater fishing or looking to refine your skills with artificials, I’m here to guide you through the flats, help you read the water, and connect with this incredible fishery the right way.
